WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role (Exciting Pro Wrestling 2 in Japan) is the second game released in the popular WWF Smackdown! (WWE Smackdown vs RAW) series. It was released by THQ for the Playstation video game system on November 20, 2000, and develpoed by Yuke's Media Creations. Also, it was the last WWE/F game released for the PlayStation.
WWF SmackDown 2: Know Your Role was succeeded by WWF Smackdown! Just Bring It.
Know Your Role ditched the pre-season mode from the original Smackdown! and added more matches and storylines per show. Also, Season mode included multiplayer capabilities, meaning that four players could use any Superstar in a season. Furthermore, Create-A-Superstar mode was improved to allow players to add more details to custom wrestlers, including attire and facial features, a la WWF Attitude. A Create-A-Taunt mode was added to the game to create taunts for the Superstars.
Another improvement in the game was the addition of movesets from wrestlers of other promotions such as WCW or Japanese federations. The arsenal of moves was further expanded for use not only by in-game Superstars, but those not included in the game. For example, pressing the X Button pluse a directional button meant more striking moves were for wrestlers. Also, double team moves in tag team matches were implimented into the gameplay, and were pulled off by tossing an opponent into the home corner and then doing a corner grapple on the ropes. In Tornado Tag matches, these moves could not be performed.
Long loading times for even simple actions (i.e., A Superstar walking down a corridor), and is sort of fake in a way as you can hit them as many times with a weapon and it wont damage them much. In Season Mode, Create a PPV, and King of the Ring mode, if you simulate a match(even if your not apart of), it doesn't automatically skip the match, it shows the superstars who are fighting with battle meters, making you watch 30 seconds of nothing happening.
